Eyepiece Adapter For Canon EF lenses:

Poor UK weather conditions coupled with a career and family severly limited the number of times per year I get out under the stars. This has forced me to rationalise my astronomy equipment to the extent that my primary tool has become a Canon 100-400 L coupled with a Kenko Pro 2x teleconverter.

DSLR viewfinders are very dim when trying to attain focus on a solitary star at 2am so I decided to setup a parfocal eyepiece adapter enabling accurate focus before switching over to camera body.

Below are the two primary componants used to make the adapter:
1. Canon EF rear lens cap.
2. A 2" to 1.25" eyepiece adapter.

The two are permanantly connected using micro fibre reinforced resin with kevlar threaded through the holes in the lens cap to act as a rebar. The adapter enables the variable positioning of an eyepiece to match DSLR sensor focus.

This solution also enables adjustment of PEC on my CGE mount.

Yes - a CGE carrying only a 100-400! (Its an awesome mount)
